Dodgers draft Kellon Lindsey, Florida high school shortstop in first round, 23rd overall pick
The Dodgers with the No. 23 pick in the 2024 MLB Draft took Kellon Lindsey, a shortstop out of Hardee High School in Wauchula, Florida in the first round. This is the third straight year the Dodgers drafted a position player with their first pick, following catcher Dalton Rushing 40th overall in 2022 and outfielder Kendall George at No. 36 in 2023. Like George last year, Lindsey is considered one of the fastest players in this year’s draft.

Anthony “Tony” Wayne Ivers, 72, of Winter Haven, FL, passed away on July 9, 2024. He was born on August 31, 1951 in Ponca City, OK, to the late Johnie and Joy Ivers. Tony attended St. Mary’s Catholic Parish School until high school, at which time he attended Unity High School, graduating in 1969. He pursued higher education at Northern Oklahoma College, where he earned an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. He dedicated 30 years of his life to working at ConocoPhillips refinery before retiring. Following his retirement, Tony found joy in working at various local bars, forming lasting connections and friendships in the community. In 2021, Tony moved to Winter Haven, FL to be closer to his children and grandchildren, where he resided until his passing.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have selected Florida Gators shortstop commit Kellon Lindsey with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. Kellon Lindsey is just 18 years old coming out of high school in Hardee High School in Wauchula, Florida. He already has excellent size, standing at six-foot-two inches and 175 lbs. While in high school, he was a two-sport athlete, also playing quarterback for his football team.
