BRAINTREE, Mass. (WPRI) — Three people believed to be connected to an international theft group were arrested in Braintree last week.

Carlos Ocampo-Carrillo, 47, Diana Maria Alvarado-Rosano, 34, and Lizbeth Herdandez-Gantiva, 23, are each facing various charges in an alleged conspiracy to commit residential burglaries, according to police.

Police said an investigation began after a home in the Messina Woods neighborhood was burglarized on June 20.

Two weeks later, a neighbor noticed a camera hidden in the bushes across the street. It had leaves glued to it for camouflage and was facing the home, according to police.

Police believe the group has ties to South American theft groups, based on the similarity of their surveillance styles. These groups use video and GPS technology to find patterns of behavior for prospective victims.

Footage from the initial burglary showed that suspects spent hours inside the empty home.

On Thursday, Ocampo-Carrillo came from the victim’s lawn dressed as a landscaper, according to police. He drove away in a black Audi and after further surveillance, police saw the vehicle return to the home again later that same night.

He was seen heading toward the hidden camera, where he disappeared for 10 minutes into the bushes. While officers attempted to stop him, Alvarado-Rosano and Hernandez-Gantiva were found in the vehicle and detained. Ocampo-Carrillo was taken into custody following a foot pursuit.
