Federal City Pool reopens Saturday after repairs, city says
When the city opened its public pools for the summer in June, Algiers residents noticed a conspicuous absence. Federal City Pool remained locked up and in need of repairs after city officials noticed cracks in the plaster at the bottom of it, and there was no timeline for reopening released to the public.
NOPD: Teens wounded in late night shooting
Police say they were shot in the Lower Ninth Ward late Friday night. Police say an 18-year-old boy suffered a graze wound, while a 17-year-old boy was shot twice. Police described the 17-year-old’s wounds as “non-life-threatening.”

NEW ORLEANS — We are already seeing a few showers early on Saturday morning, moving quickly through the area from the southwest to the northeast. Although we will have a few passing showers early today, the best chance for rain comes in the afternoon, and the showers will happen pretty quickly. Showers and thunderstorms will be fairly numerous throughout most of the afternoon Saturday, with the chance of rain officially at 70%. There’s also a small chance again for some localized flooding as the showers will be fairly widespread, and the ground is already saturated in many areas.

Leah Chase School hits enrollment milestone, despite doubts
New Orleans’ first direct-run school in nearly two decades cleared an important hurdle this week: Enrolling enough students.
