NJ man charged after making online threats — from jail!
OAKLAND — A man already behind bars was charged with making online threats against law enforcement officers. Todd Gentile, 55, of Oakland, was charged after the office's Cyber Crimes Unit discovered "an emerging pattern" of posts on social media threatening to shoot law enforcement, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
Labor dispute leads to retaliation lawsuit filed by firefighter in Bergen County
An Englewood firefighter is claiming the city and members of the administration retaliated against him after he spoke before the council about union contract negotiations. John Escobar is a firefighter with the city and president of the International Association of Firefighters Local 3263. The lawsuit, filed on June 28 in Bergen County Superior Court, said the firefighters union and the city have been in contract negotiations "for years." According to the lawsuit, the collective bargaining agreement expired four years ago and they haven't been able to reach a new contract.

PARSIPPANY — On Thursday, June 27, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Officer Thomas Caccavale was on routine patrol on Greenbank Road near 99 Greenbank Road. While driving west, the officer observed a light-colored sedan traveling East. While approaching the patrol vehicle, the sedan crossed the center line and entered the opposite travel lane in front of the officer’s car. Officer Caccavale initiated the brakes on the patrol vehicle and swerved to the right to avoid impact. He then turned around and initiated a motor vehicle stop of the car on Greenbank Road near Knoll Lane.
