Sailboat Washes Ashore on Iconic Mendocino Beach
Locals and tourists alike were surprised to find a sailboat named the “Not Sure” washed ashore on one of the Mendocino Coast’s most iconic beaches this morning. The vessel was discovered on the sands of Portuguese Beach, part of Mendocino Headlands State Park. California State Park’s Ranger Loren Rex provided details about the incident.
UPD: Sonoma County man arrested after thefts, assaults at Ukiah businesses
A Sonoma County man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly assaulting employees while stealing items from at least two Ukiah businesses, the Ukiah Police Department reported. According to the UPD, officers responded to a restaurant in the 200 block of South Orchard Avenue when an employee (identified only as a 38-year-old Ukiah man) reported being assaulted by a man who ate there without paying for his food.
Governor orders urgent action on homeless encampments statewide
– Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order today directing state agencies to urgently address homeless encampments “while respecting the dignity and safety of Californians experiencing homelessness,” according to a press release from the governor’s office. The governor’s order follows the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Grants Pass v Johnson and urges local governments to use substantial state funding to take similar action.
