One dead and one detained in shooting near Branson

TANEY COUNTY, Mo. — A heavy police presence has been reported outside Branson city limits near Cannonball Loop.

Taney County Sheriff’s Office told Ozarksfirst one person has died and one person is detained due to a shooting.

No information is available on the reason behind the shooting as the scene is still under investigation.

Police say there is no threat to the public.

Neighbors tell OzarksFirst they feel like they need more protection.

“We need a neighborhood watch or something because this is very dangerous,” said Toni, who has been living in the area for two years.

She says everyone in the neighborhood usually gets along with each other.

“I just wish that it wasn’t like this where I live,” Toni said. “I want to move. I’m ready to go. I’m ready to go back to Florida.”
