SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Local law enforcement officers took time yesterday to give back and serve the community.

Special Olympics, Culver’s and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office teamed up to raise funds through the “Tip a Cop” program.

All of the tips officers and deputies received are direct donations to Special Olympics and help put on their sporting events throughout the year. It’s an event Corporal Meggan Hartman says she’s excited to volunteer for each year.

“This is a fun event,” Hartman said. “The first time I did typically was 14 years ago at Red Robin. That was my first introduction to Special Olympics, the fundraising stuff. And we had several athletes at that with us, and it was just so nice to work with them.”

Hartman says “Tip a Cop” is a great opportunity to connect with some of the athletes and serve the community.

This year’s event included five Culver’s locations in Branson, Republic and Springfield. Multiple agencies across the Ozarks, including the Springfield Police Department and the Branson Police Department, participated.

Haley Blevins, Director of Development with Special Olympics also said Culver’s will also donate a portion of sales to the organization. The funds will help them host all of their events and even add some new sports like pickleball.

Blevins said she enjoys working with law enforcement partners year-round.
