Torrential rainfall last night and this morning left behind widespread flooding. Areas from Branson south through Mtn. View, AR, was hardest hit with many locations in that corridor reporting over 6″. Radar estimates that totals could have topped a foot of rainfall closer to Mtn. View. Rain chances have just about wrapped up for this evening with several days to dry out before rain returns to the forecast.
A cold front dropping across Northern Arkansas this evening will trigger a few more showers. Additional rainfall across the flood-stricken area will be spotty and shouldn’t exacerbate the flooding. Drier air flowing in behind the cold front will help clear skies and open the door to cooler morning lows. The only weather issue we’ll have to deal with Thursday morning would be some patchy fog.
A mild stretch of July weather will make for ideal weather to get outdoors Thursday through Saturday. Lows and highs will run 5 to 10° below normal with comfortable humidity levels.
The pattern will take a turn for the cloudier and wetter by Sunday as a storm dives into the middle of the country. The storm will boost rain chances and keep temperatures mild. At this time, rainfall doesn’t look overly heavy.
It looks like the trough in the middle of the country will persist through next week. Showers may remain possible through next week, and it will keep temperatures milder than normal as we kick off the Ozark Empire Fair.
