Community members gathered at the Brantley-Davis Cemetery in Brantley to release balloons on the one-year anniversary of LaKenya B. “Peachez” Anderson’s tragic death. Anderson, a beloved member of the community, was fatally injured when her 2018 Nissan Rogue was struck head-on by a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 20-year-old Lucas M. Johnson of Brantley. Johnson has been charged with reckless murder, but a trial date has not yet been set. Family, friends, and supporters came together on June 18, the anniversary of her death, to honor her memory, each releasing a balloon symbolizing their love, loss and hope for justice.
