    DEC to host informational meeting tonight on Deer River pollution in Brasher Falls

    BRASHER FALLS, N.Y. (WWTI) – The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will be hosting an informational meeting on the pollution in Deer River in St. Lawrence County.

    The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. tonight at the Tri-Town Arena in Brasher Falls. The DEC will be there to help answer questions regarding the current situation.

    Earlier in the month, the DEC cited North Country Dairy for water quality standards on the Deer River.

    The DEC conducted an investigation to identify and address the causes of growth commonly called sewer fungus in the Deer River. This was after an Leptomitus lacteus was found in the water.
