Local search and rescue volunteers receive additional training
MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) - A group of volunteers dedicated to finding and rescuing people in distress in the outdoors received funding for additional training recently. The Mountaineer Area Rescue Group, which performs search and rescue missions within a 120-mile radius of the Morgantown area, recently attended a three-day backcountry rope rescue training providing by Peak Rescue, a rope access and rescue training company, at Cooper’s Rock State Park.

PLEASANT VALLEY, W.Va. — A single engine aircraft crash landed at the Fairmont-Marion County Airport Friday afternoon injuring the pilot and passenger. Reports indicate a small aircraft with two aboard overshot the runway and went into some trees and down an embankment at 3:16 p.m. Frist responders had to use ropes and a patient basket to get the patients to a point they could be evacuated from.
