Support is strong for a Mays Landing family who lost their home to a fire Friday night.

Patty Botbyl and her son, Alex, lived in the Woodlands.

A call for mutual aid to the fire in the 2600 block of Dogwood Court at about 11:45 p.m.

The Botbyls were able to escape with their dog, but a bunny was lost as was the home, according to Dominic Mezzatesta, Patty Botbyl's employer.

The exemplary worker has been with Pets Plus for about 15 years, Mezzatesta said in a GoFundMe set up to help.

"I can't say enough good things about Patty," he told BreakingAC. "(Her) work ethic is phenomenal ... great with customers."

Patty Botbyl's employer at Pets Plus started a GoFundMe to help the hard worker.

The family, it seems, helps those beyond work.

"If you know Alex and his family, you know they are some of the kindest and most welcoming people you could ever meet," Gabriela Blanco wrote in a separate GoFundMe. "They’ve always been there for others, and now they need our help more than ever."

Details about the fire were not immediately available.

Friends of Alex Botbyl started a GoFundMe to help the family they say has always helped others.
