The Atlantic County Justice Facility is in full compliance with state standards, according to the results of a six-day state inspection.

“The Atlantic County jail continues to operate at the highest standards which should bring great assurance to the public,” Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson said. “The warden and his staff have my deep respect and appreciation. As correction officers, they have some of the toughest jobs in the country. We are extremely fortunate they do their jobs so well.”

The annual inspection was conducted in mid-June and included a thorough review in about 30 categories, including personnel, training and staff development, emergency procedures, security, records, sanitation, food service, sanitation, inmate services, inmate living conditions, medical, dental and health services, disciplinary procedures, security and control visitation, admissions, inmate services and programming, and access to courts.

N.J. Department of Corrections Assistant Commissioner Christopher Holmes congratulated the team on this achievement and commended their efforts in preparation for the inspection.

The Atlantic County Justice Facility at 5060 Atlantic Ave. houses male and female inmates. They include those awaiting trial and sentencing, along with those serving sentences of 364 days or less.

Some also are awaiting transfer to state prison, or are state inmates contracted to the county facility.
