An Egg Harbor Township man and woman were injured in a shooting Tuesday night in Atlantic City.

    The man now faces charges.

Officer Marquez Jones was in the area of the 4000 block of Ventnor Avenue near Dover just before 7:30 p.m., when he heard gunfire, Capt. Kevin Fair said.

Kevin Hollingsworth and a 37-year-old woman were found suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the report.

An investigation found that Hollingsworth was involved in a verbal altercation with several individuals, leading to an exchange of gunfire, Fair said.

    The other group fled.

Hollingsworth ran into a nearby business, where he discarded a handgun that was recovered, Fair said.

Both he and the woman were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatment of their injuries, which were not considered life-threatening.

Hollingsworth, 38, is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

He is receiving medical treatment and is not jailed at this time.

The investigation is ongoing by the city's Violent Crimes Unit.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Atlantic City police at 609-347-5766. A text may be submitted anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
