TxDOT closes ‘Mile-Long Bridge’ over Hubbard Creek Lake for repairs; timeline for project undetermined at this time
The main route to and from Breckenridge on the west side of the county — the U.S. Highway 180 bridge over Hubbard Creek Reservoir, aka the “Mile-Long Bridge” — was shut down by the Texas Department of Transportation Friday evening, Dec. 22, due to damage to the bridge. The bridge will require repairs before it can be reopened, but a timeline for that reopening has not been determined by TxDOT at this time, according to a news release from the state agency.

UPDATE: TxDOT posted the following in a post on the social media service X, formerly known as Twitter: “Stephens County Traffic Alert: Maintenance will close the US 180 bridge over Hubbard Creek Reservoir. Average gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 8.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.48/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 30.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 9.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. Jacob Scoggin passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023. His cremation has been entrusted to Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home, and no services are planned at this time. Jacob Raymond Scoggin was born on February 6, 1989, at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
