File photo By Mike Williams news@breckenridgeamerican.com Breckenridge High School will host the Buckaroo basketball camp next week, with the annual Buckaroo football camp taking place in July at Buckaroo Stadium. The 2024 Buckaroo Basketball Camp will take place June 3-5 at the BHS Athletics and Fine Arts Center. Led by Buckaroos head coach Brent Lucas, the camp is open to boys and girls that will be going into first through ninth grades. Incoming first through fourth graders will participate at 9 a.m. daily, with incoming fifth through ninth graders beginning at 1 p.m. Each session will last approximately two hours. Cost of the camp will be $40 per camper and $30 for each sibling. Campers will learn the basic fundamentals of basketball including ball handling, dribbling, passing and shooting. Both offensive and defensive skills will be covered. Each day will include a team competition of layups, jump shots, set shots, free throws and “hot shots.” Cash or checks made out to Brent Lucas and mailed with a registration form to 500 W. The camp will be open to incoming first through eighth graders at a cost of $20 per camper with no sibling discounts. Participants will receive a string backpack. Led by the Buckaroo coaching staff, the camp will cover the fundamentals of football including passing, catching, ball carrying and blocking.
