This year’s show will take place Friday, July 5 near Corley’s Landing at Hubbard Creek Lake, off of County Road 277. The event is an evening-long affair with vendors, swimming and other outdoor summer activities. The event begins at 5 p.m. and is capped off with a singing of the national anthem by Breck’s Got Talent 2024 winner Abbi Duran and the fireworks show at 9 p.m. “(We’d like to see) the community mark their calendars every year for the first weekend of July to just plan …To spend with their family at Hubbard Creek Lake,” Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Yuri Huntington said. “I know sometimes it’s a temptation for those of us who live here in town to go out of town and experience somewhere else, but why not have family and friends who live out of town come and experience our town?” Huntington said the chamber is working with local businesses to provide food for the event.Last year’s vendors were Connie’s Louisiana Kitchen, Rose Avenue Baptist Church, El Patio De Luna and United Supermarkets. The chamber also provided free glow sticks, temporary tattoos and other items. Each year, the community gathers for a day of swimming and fellowship on the lake.  There is a marked-off swimming area and local vendors provide food and drinks.  The event also serves as a fundraiser for Wayland Volunteer Fire Department.  Members of WVFD accept donations at the entrance gate to help cover costs as the wildfire season begins. Both the chamber and the Breckenridge Economic Development Corporation see Hubbard Creek Lake as a source of growth for the city. Boomfest is just one way to showcase the lake to visitors and community members alike. “Hubbard Creek Lake is such an amazing experience,” Huntington said. “It is a gem in our town. The more we can do at Hubbard Creek, as far as events go, the more the community and out-of-towners will know what a great lake we have. Hubbard Creek Lake is in its beginning stages of amazing development to come in the future.” Huntington said both community members and visitors of Breckenridge can expect a night to remember at this year’s Boomfest. “They should expect an amazing show …Overlooking the beautiful Hubbard Creek Lake,” Huntington said. “It is a great time with family and friends and a night to remember.” For more information on Boomfest or to apply for a vendor spot, contact the chamber at 254-559-2301.
