Photo/Mike Williams By Mike Williams news@breckenridgeamerican.com Writers note: Due to space issues, the STAAR 3-8 results were not published in the Wednesday, June 19 edition of the Breckenridge American. These results are included in the online version of the story and will be published in the Wednesday, June 26 edition. The Texas Education Agency has released the 2024 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness results for both End-of-Course assessments and grades 3-8. These EOC results, which include district and campus level performance, were released Friday, June 7 and grades three through eight were released Friday, June 14. EOC results are from assessments in Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology and U.S. History. Results also included assessments in mathematics and reading-language arts (RLA) in grades three through eight, fifth and eighth grade science and eighth grade social studies. Parents and guardians can access their individual students’ progress along with assessment answers with a unique access code from the school. These codes can be entered at texasassessment.gov. Breckenridge ISD Interim Superintendent Prairie Freeman said the district will use a system called Eduphoria to transfer student scores into their Skyward accounts. She expected parents to be notified last week when they could review their students’ test scores via the parent portal. “We are disaggregating the data to see where we kind of fall,” she said. “This is all preliminary, but we are already starting to look at those with the scale scores that have been released with TEA. …I’m really anxious to see how we fared given the four-day week. This is something that I really wanted to be mindful of and keep track of. We’ve been making great gains and I didn’t want to lose momentum.” Freeman, who served as the district’s chief academic adviser prior to being selected as the interim superintendent, said the TEA A-F accountability ratings are expected to be released in October. “I like to look at the glass half full first and I am hopeful,” Freeman said of her thoughts regarding district-wide results. “…I feel like there are some areas that we are going to need to really kind of buckle down and improve.” Freeman said she would have more information for the school board later this summer. STAAR exam scores are grouped into four performance levels.
