Last month, Kennedy took grand champion in the heifer show at the Panhandle Parade of Breeds Junior Livestock Show in Plainview. Kennedy took third play earlier this month in the 2024 National Junior Angus Show. Taking place June 13-15, Kennedy earned her award in the 16 breed heifer show during the 42nd annual event with her Angus heifer, 4/B Miss Forever Lady 258L. The show was judged by Nick Fitzsimmons, of Perry, Oklahoma. Kennedy won a cash prize of $1,000.The showmanship contest was divided into two categories, Heifer and Steer, with three age divisions in each. Kennedy also earned a grand champion buckle in the Senior Heifer category against 10 entries and won a $750 college scholarship. The 2024 National Junior Angus Show took place June 30 to July 6 in Madison, Wisconsin. Kennedy won third place overall champion. She also won intermediate champion in Division 2. In the owned heifer competition, there were 549 entries across 49 classes from all across the country. National Junior Angus Association members took part in the “Showdown in Madtown” as they exhibited 963 entries during the week-long event that included more than a dozen educational contests in addition to the cattle show. The wins continue a successful year for Kennedy. Earlier this year, Kennedy won several awards at the Stephens County Junior Livestock Show. She won Grand Champion Steer and Reserve Champion Heifer while also earning the Senior Cattle Showmanship Award. Following the SCJLS, Kennedy competed at the Fort Worth Junior Livestock Show and took fourth place in the junior heifer class. She has also participated in FFA events as a member of Breckenridge FFA. In May, Kennedy was selected to serve as a Texas FFA Foundation Ambassador at the state convention in Houston. Ambassadors serve as hosts for special guests, sponsors and other dignitaries on behalf of Texas FFA at the state convention. Kennedy competed in the Alvarado CDE poultry judging contest and was the first high point individual. She also came in third at the Bridgeport CDE and third at the Plano West CDE. She also took sixth in class with her Angus heifer at the San Antonio Stock Show. News
