Gatton Academy Student Om Patel Receives Gates Scholarship
Om Patel, Gatton Academy and Breckinridge County High School Class of 2024 graduate, has received the nationally competitive Gates Scholarship. Those selected receive funding for the full cost of tuition, fees, room, board, books, and transportation for their undergraduate education not covered by additional financial aid. Patel is one of only 750 students selected out of over 53,000 applicants. Patel will continue his education at Massachusetts Institute of Technology majoring in Computer Science and Finance.
County Fair Pageants Set For Saturday
HARDINSBURG (06/14/24) – The Breckinridge County Fair takes place next week, but the first Fair-related event is this weekend with the Baby Contests and Beauty Pageants tomorrow at Hardinsburg Elementary School. Doors open at 8am, with the first contest starting at 9. Interview sessions for the pageants begin at 1pm with the pageants themselves starting at 3. Admission is five dollars. FFA Chapter attends State Convention
The Breckinridge County FFA Chapter recently attended the KY FFA State Convention held in Lexington at Rupp Arena. The students competed in their respective areas of specialty and brought home several impressive awards.
Circuit Court News - Division II
Breckinridge County Circuit Court Division II met Wednesday, June 5 with Judge Kenneth H. Goff II presiding. Cheyenne Bray pleaded guilty to first degree possession of a controlled substance (meth), first offense. Sentencing was set for July 24.
Breckinridge County Grand Jury indicts 19
The Breckinridge County Grand Jury met Monday, June 3, and returned the following 19 indictments. Jackie J. Dewitt, 44 of Cloverport, was indicted for first degree possession of an unspecified drug, first offense, and first degree possession of a controlled substance (meth), first offense.

Registration opens for BCHS Mini Cheer Camp
Registration has opened for Breckinridge County High School’s 2024 Mini Cheer Camp, which will be held in July. The camp will be Saturday, July 13 for students age 4 through 5th grade from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at BCHS.
United Way of Central Kentucky encourages participation in Day of Action
United Way of Central Kentucky (UWCK) is participating in the international Day of Action and is seeking local volunteers to join them in serving their communities. An international United Way campaign, Day of Action is set for the week of June 17 through 21. Through the campaign, thousands of individuals across the globe take action to improve their communities by volunteering with United Way. UWCK is initiating the project regionally in order to promote volunteerism throughout their service area, which includes Hardin, Meade, Breckinridge, LaRue and Grayson counties.
