Typically visiting Dinosaur World, in either of its locations happens when the weather is warmer. But, what happens when the weather is cooler, there is a global pandemic, and you still want the experience for your family? Easy. You bring the experience of Dinosaur World Home.

For starters, Dinosaur World has locations in Kentucky, Florida and Texas. Each location features over 200 life-size dinosaurs throughout the outdoor theme park.

    Decorate with Dinosaurs

Knowing this, the first thing to do to create your experience at home is to decorate your space or home with large scale photos and posters of dinosaurs. But, don’t label them just yet.

Instead, make a game of it by setting a timer and having each person write out each name of the dinosaur. Once the timer has ended. Check for answers. The person with the most dinosaur names accurate wins a prize.

This alone will give you the experience of walking through Dinosaur World checking out all of the various dinosaurs and trying to guess the name before reading about it.

    Admission

Typically, a daily admission adult ticket is $16.95 (plus tax), while the children’s pass is $18.95 (plus tax) with some extras such as the Fossil Dig and the Lucky Strike bag.

But, by being home, there’s no reason to pay that. Instead create the Fossil Dig and Lucky Strike bag at home. Here’s how.

    Fossil Dig and Bone Yard

For the Fossil Dig, tickets are taken and children are given a bag and instructions on how the Fossil Dig works. For 15 minutes, the children go rambling and digging in the sand, trying their hardest to find (three) random, historic-like teeth that they are able to keep as souvenirs to take home.

Similar to the Fossil Dig is the Bone Yard. The Bone Yard is another exhibit in Dinosaur World that allows children to dig and brush around. In the Bone Yard, children are equipped with a brush and shovel where they fill the shoes of paleontologists to uncover and examine the 27-foot skeleton from under the sand.

To recreate this experience, grab a few dinosaur excavation kits from Dollar Tree, Five Below or Amazon. For a small cost for each kit, you can spend at least 15 minutes excavating dinosaur remains as a family at your kitchen table.

    Dino Gem Excavation

Aside from the Fossil Dig and Bone Yard is the Dino Gem Excavation. During the Gem Excavation, visitors are given a bag that contains sand and rock-like matter with “gems”. They then begin to pan.

The most exciting part of panning is that like the Fossil Dig, you're able to take home whatever you find. To experience, create a sensory bin filled with sand and hidden gems or dinosaur related goodies.

Use a strainer to strain out the goodies, or either have a race to see how many each person can find in a given time.

Want to make it even more fun? Create a story that involves each item that you pan.

Interactive Shows & Mammoths, Giants of the Ice Age

Now, this is an easy one.

Dinosaur World in Plant City offers two interactive shows that are not a part of the Dinosaur World in Cave City, Kentucky. These include the Triviasaurus Rex Game Show and Exploration Cave Show.

To recreate this experience, simply get everyone together, pop some popcorn and relax as you watch a dinosaur movie together. How about Jurassic Park, Ice Age or The Good Dinosaur - just to name a few.

Watching Ice Age also works out perfectly for the Mammoths, Giants of the Ice Age exhibit.

    Recommendation

While there are so many exciting exhibits at Dinosaur World, it’s hard to have a favorite or explain them all in one post. So, if you ever get the opportunity, definitely check out one of the Dinosaur World locations, but in the meantime have time creating your own version at home
