Children’s Health, one of the largest and most prestigious pediatric health care providers in the country and the leading pediatric health care system in North Texas, proudly announces that Children’s Medical Center Dallas, its flagship hospital, has once again been recognized among the nation’s best pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report for 2020-2021. Children’s Medical Center Dallas is the only hospital in North Texas ranked in all 10 pediatric specialties in the annual Best Children’s Hospital report, which is based on patient treatment outcomes, clinical resources and compliance with best practices.

“We are honored to once again be named among the best pediatric hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for providing high-quality care to our patients,” said Chris Durovich, president and chief executive officer at Children’s Health. “To be ranked in 10 out of 10 pediatric specialties for the eighth time in 12 years is a testament to our commitment to excellence for every patient we care for at our hospital. Alongside our colleagues at UT Southwestern, we proudly celebrate this achievement as it further reinforces our mission to make life better for children.”

The purpose of the U.S. News & World Report rankings is to provide families with a comprehensive and trusted starting point as they decide where to receive pediatric care for their children. This is the eighth time Children’s Health has been recognized with this distinction. In addition to this ranking, Children’s Health continues to garner national recognition because of its world-renowned pediatric physicians, innovative technology and academic affiliation with UT Southwestern Medical Center – one of the premier academic medical centers in the nation. Being identified as one of the leading hospitals in the country is a testament to that recognition as Children’s Medical Center Dallas continues to care for nearly 300,000 unique patients a year.

“As the primary physicians at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, our pediatric faculty and the trainees who work with them bring a shared commitment to the innovative and compassionate care they deliver to children and their families,” said Dr. Daniel K. Podolsky, president of UT Southwestern Medical Center. “It is gratifying to see the excellence of the care they provide nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report.”

To create the pediatric rankings, U.S. News & World Report gathers key clinical data from more than 100 medical centers through a detailed survey that looks at measures such as patient safety, infection prevention and adequacy of nurse staffing. In addition, part of each hospital’s score is derived from surveys of 16,000 pediatric specialists who are asked where they would send the sickest children in their specialty. Children’s Medical Center Dallas overall rankings for 2020-2021 include:

    • Orthopedics: No. 5
    • Gastroenterology & GI Surgery: No. 7
    • Cardiology & Heart Surgery: No. 9
    • Urology: No. 14
    • Neurology & Neurosurgery: No. 17
    • Nephrology: No. 20
    • Diabetes & Endocrinology: No. 15
    • Neonatology: No. 36
    • Cancer: No. 19
    • Pulmonology: No. 25

“We are celebrating this recognition with every member of our team who works tirelessly day after day in the pursuit of excellence for our patients,” said Tammy Webb, executive vice president and chief nursing officer at Children’s Health. “It is an honor to once again be recognized by U.S. News & World Report for the world-class care we have the privilege of providing to our patient families.”
