Food, entertainment will be plentiful at Blueberry Festival

Even though blueberries will be the treat of the day, plenty of other food offerings can be found at Saturday’s Alabama Blueberry Festival hosted by the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce.
Festival organizers are making sure everyone’s appetite is satisfied with the offerings available this year.
The main attraction will be the traditional blueberry crunch, blueberry cobbler and blueberry ice cream prepared especially for the festival.
Those items will be available at the Chamber of Commerce space and will be available while supplies last.
Other locally produced foods will be available include slow-cooked pulled pork sandwiches from Pig Daddy’s BBQ. You can grab a bag of chips to go with the sandwich and don’t forget a bowl of the unmatchable Blueberry Bread Pudding.
Other festival treats will be provided by E&I Enterprises with U-squeeze lemonade, dipped frozen cheesecake-on-a-stick or frozen banana-on-a-stick, tamales, red beans and rice with sausage.
A Taste of Summer will be serving up fresh roasted corn for the event.
Wrighteous Eats will offer typical festival fare including cheeseburgers with fries, steak or chick philly sandwiches, buffalo chicken hoagies, nachos, loaded fries, fried tacos and funnel cake fries.
Jordan Valle Restaurant will be cooking up some fresh foods with a twist. Their offerings will include a Gyro pita, buffalo chicken pita, chicken shawerma pita, chidken tender pita, hamburger pita and chicken tender baskets. Vendors will have drinks available as well,
If you’re hoping to tap your toes and clap your hands, a group of entertainers are set for the stage to help get you in the mood of the day.
The stage will be set to go at 8 a.m. bringing a welcome from Festival hosts with announcements of the days events.
Taking the stage at 8:20 a.m. will be Ascher Hampton with music to get the day started.
Tanya Graves will deliver some classic and bluesy country to get your toes tapping at 9:25 a.m.
At 10:30 a.m., Robert McWilliams will take the stage for listeners. The performer is the son of the Rev. Robert McWilliams of Brewton and currently lives in Atlanta, Ga.
The Mancil Rock Band, a group of local singers and musicians, will be offering their unique brand of entertainment beginning at 11:20 a.m. Their performance will continue through the lunch hour ending at 1 p.m.
Beginning at 1:15 p.m., the Josh Stanley Group, also a local group of musicians, will be taking the stage to end the live performances for the day concluding at 2:15.
The remainder of the day will be filled with music and special announcements sprinkled throughout the day.
For antique car enthusiasts, don’t forget that there will be a Car Show as well. The annual car show draws big crowds of auto lovers who enjoy seeing the restoration of older vechiles. The car show will be set up along St. Nicholas Avenue from the red light to the Festival grounds at Jennings Park. Entrants will arrive early and be ready to show off their work when the festival gets underway at 8 a.m.
And for the kids, a special children’s section will be up and running again this year complete with pony rides and lots of fun.
