High Times at High West
Utah’s High West Distillery moved production operations from its downtown Park City gastropub to a state of the art distillery in nearby Wanship. The mountaintop distillery is producing award-winning whiskies and equally winning awards for its food and bar programs. We’ll visit the distillery and talk with Master Distiller Brendan Coyle on this week’s WhiskyCast In-Depth. Jazz tabbed as best landing spot for 23-year-old 3&D wing
The Utah Jazz have a lot of cap flexibility. They've already used some of it to absorb Russell Westbrook's contract. While they could spend the rest of the offseason acquiring and waiving other players, they could put it to good use. Not many free agents are left on the open...

HUNCHBACK is on top of the world at Murray Arts
MURRAY — One of the thrilling parts of reviewing and patronizing community theatre is the community nature of it all. Seeing everyone gather together to make the best show they can will never get old. Such was my experience at Murray Arts latest production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. While nothing is perfect, it was incredible to see a group spare no expense and be so ambitious.
A man facing execution for 1998 murder addresses Utah parole board, asks for life sentence instead
A man facing execution next month for the murder his girlfriend’s mother asked state officials Monday to spare his life, saying he is not the same person he was when he killed the woman after a day of drinking and using drugs. Taberon Dave Honie told the Utah parole board that he never planned to kill 49-year-old Claudia Benn and doesn’t remember much about the killing, which happened when Benn’s three grandchildren, including Honie’s 2-year-old daughter, were in her home. He would never have committed the crime had he been in his “right mind”, he said. “I earned my place in prison. What I’m asking today for this board to consider is ‘Would you allow me to exist?’,” he said during the first day of a two-day hearing at the Utah State Correctional Facility in Salt Lake City. Honie said he wanted to continue to be able to be there for his mother and his daughter, who is in recovery for substance abuse, but he acknowledged that killing his daughter’s grandmother devastated her family.
Death of Utah State's Andre Seldon Jr. rocks the college football world
In what can only be described as a horrific tragedy, Utah State defensive back Andre Seldon Jr. passed away on Saturday after a fluke drowning accident. According to a press release by Utah State, the defensive back transfer was seen jumping off cliffs at the Porcupine Reservoir and he didn't resurface. To me, this sounds like he hit the water hard and awkward enough to knock him out and he was never able to swim to safety. After doing some quick research, it appears that cliff jumping here is a popular activity, but they do appear steep and there are areas of excess rock at the bottom which could be enough to knock someone out. I won't speculate, but this seems like a freak accident.
