Ray Donovan star Liev Schrieber recently hosted the summer gala at the South Fork Natural History Museum in Bridgehampton, New York. The museum was partially founded by his friend Andy Sabin. Not only is this museum a great place for residents and visitors to learn about local flora and wildlife, but it also inspired Schreiber and his kids to help local animals in need.

Their most recent guest was a young hedgehog!

Speaking to People Magazine , Schreiber explained, "People in the neighborhood often reach out when they encounter injured animals like raccoons or possums ," he says. "They'll call Taylor to help rehabilitate them, find them a home, or care for them. Our house has become a bit of a rescue center, which Sasha and Kai are completely obsessed with."

Sasha and Kai are Schreiber's two teen kids.

The article then goes on to explain that the family took in a young hedgehog named Bector. The family enjoyed having Bector around until he started leaving messes in the house and they realized the hedgehog would be better off at the museum. The article says, "We knew Andy had all the facilities where it could be outside, receive more attention, and perhaps have other animals to interact with ," Schreiber shares about how Bector became a resident of the South Fork Natural History Museum. "So, we decided to have Bector live with Andy."

I don't know about you, but I would never guess that Liev Schreiber would be the person to call for help with a hedgehog! Not only is he handsome and talented, but he also loves animals!

The Humane Society of The United States explains how you can tell if a wild animal needs your help. They say you should seek help for a wild animal if: the animal is brought to you by a cat or dog, a bird is featherless or nearly featherless and on the ground, the animal is shivering or you see a dead parent nearby.

They also say that ideally, you should reach out to a local wildlife center or wildlife rehabilitator for guidance. If necessary—and following the rehabber’s instructions—safely capture and transport the animal to the appropriate place for treatment.

As tempting as it may be to take in that baby raccoon or skunk, it may not even be legal in your area to keep a wild animal as a pet so you should check with your local ordinances about keeping wild animals in your home.
