Offer Accepted for Bay City’s State Theater
A Boyne City man may soon be the new owner of the State Theater in Bay City. James White’s bid of $630,000, placed on July 12 with two other offers, was accepted by a trustee of a bankruptcy court. That court will now determine if White’s offer is solvent.
Dow Receives Large Grant for Job retention
The State of Michigan has allocated a $120 million grant to Dow Chemical to retain roughly 5,000 jobs in the region. During its meeting on Tuesday, the Michigan Strategic Fund awarded the grant to Dow to support improvements to the company’s industrial park in Midland as well as its Auburn Operations facility. Dow says it’s working to expand its ability to manufacture materials that go into the creation of electric vehicle batteries. The State has also approved a 15-year State Essential Services Assessment property tax break and a 10-year extension to a Renaissance Zone tax incentive.

This year’s Walk for Hope is set to return to Saginaw Valley State University on Sunday, Aug. 4. Offer on Bay City’s State Theatre accepted, but sale yet to go through
BAY CITY, MI – A more than $600,000 offer to purchase the historic State Theatre in downtown Bay City has been accepted, but only time will tell if the sale goes through. James A. White submitted a $630,000 cash offer with no contingencies, according to federal court records. The offer was accepted by the trustee appointed by bankruptcy court to take control of the theater and to sell or distribute its assets. The offer was accepted July 17.
