Dow Receives Large Grant for Job retention
The State of Michigan has allocated a $120 million grant to Dow Chemical to retain roughly 5,000 jobs in the region. During its meeting on Tuesday, the Michigan Strategic Fund awarded the grant to Dow to support improvements to the company’s industrial park in Midland as well as its Auburn Operations facility. Dow says it’s working to expand its ability to manufacture materials that go into the creation of electric vehicle batteries. The State has also approved a 15-year State Essential Services Assessment property tax break and a 10-year extension to a Renaissance Zone tax incentive.

Woman misses chance to avoid jail
CARO — One could say Rachel L. Parrish received a break when a judge delayed her sentence for one year, keeping her out of jail. But Parrish, 32, of Caro, didn’t take advantage of the situation. Last week a judge ruled Parrish “did not successfully complete her delay of sentence,” and tossed her in jail for 180 days – with credit for 74 days served.

Forecast turning towards dry weather after isolated showers today

With how quick the low has passed by and with our area already behind the cold front, we don’t have much in the way or forcing or a good driver for widespread showers. Man pleads guilty to hiding stolen cars
CARO — A 36-year-old Vassar man has pleaded guilty to receiving and concealing two stolen vehicles, and concealing the identity of a third vehicle. Investigators say Joshua D. Zimmerman received and concealed a stolen 1971 Lincoln Continental, and a stolen 1967 GMC pickup truck. Police said they don’t know the dates of those crimes.

Bay County Homeless Man Reported Missing
The Bay County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a missing homeless man. Police say 32-year-old Tyler Joseph Laurain was last seen July 10 in the area of the Bay City Walmart. Family members say Laurain frequently visits fast food restaurants to use their wifi. He is described as white, standing 5’10” and weighing around 130 pounds. He has blue eyes and brown hair. He may also have a long beard.
