Averill Preserve celebrates 20 years at Little Forks Conservancy
Along the Tittabawassee River and the Pere-Marquette Rail Trail lies a 72-acre natural area owned by the Little Forks Conservancy, called the Averill Preserve. Owned and managed by Little Forks since 2004, this year marks the 20th year of the preserve opening to the public. To celebrate this milestone, community members are invited to attend Averill’s 20th birthday party hosted by the Conservancy from 4 to 8 p.m. on July 31 at the natural area, which is located near the intersection of Saginaw and East Wackerly Road.
Saginaw at Sugnet traffic light out temporarily for maintenance

Man, 19, charged with arson, home invasion
A Midland man remains jailed, charged with arson and home invasion in connection with an early Saturday morning incident in Hope Township. Michael Painter, 19, of Midland, is charged with misdemeanor arson and felony home invasion. He is lodged in the Midland County Jail on a $10,000 cash/surety bond.
