NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — An armed fugitive with multiple active warrants was brought into custody on Thursday morning by the Bridgeport Police Department after he had been on the run.

New Haven man, 20, sentenced to 7 years in prison for role in armed robbery

According to a release, 27-year-old Juwaun Terry, of Stratford, was apprehended after fleeing out of a second floor door of a multi-family home on Highland Avenue at approximately 6 a.m.

Police recovered a handgun that Terry had left in the house prior to fleeing. He’s a convicted felon on the state’s Deadly Weapon Offender Registry.

Terry was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, violation of the state Deadly Weapon Offender Registry, violation of a protective order, interfering with an officer and more.

Terry was returned to the custody of the State Department of Corrections.

Police are still investigating if additional arrests are necessary and what led police to the Highland Avenue location.
