CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — In a unanimous decision, the West Virginia Board of Education elected Nancy White to be their next board president, according to a press release.

White, a Grafton native who lives in Bridgeport, has been on the Board since 2018 and has held the Vice President position, the press release says. She retired after 36 years in West Virginia schools, including positions in Morgan, Taylor, Lewis and Jefferson counties. Her term on the Board expires in 2031.

“We have worked earnestly to represent our education community and the critical work that occurs every day at the hands of our educators and administrators,” White said. “It is a privilege to continue to serve my state because the work ahead of us is so very important.”

Victor L. Gabriel – who retired from Harrison County Schools – will serve as Vice President. F. Scott Rotruck will serve as secretary, and L. Paul Hardesty as Legislative Liaison, the press release says.
