BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — A family staying in a Bridgeport townhome has to relocate to a different unit in the complex after a fire in their garage Thursday morning.
The fire started just after 7:45 a.m. on Sweet Birch Lane in the Meadow Creek apartment complex, according to the Harrison County 911 log.
12 News crews spoke with the family, who reported that the fire caused minimal damage, and the fire walls in the building kept the garage fire from spreading far.
While no family members, including the cats, were injured, a car was lost and the family was preparing for a wedding soon and did lose some of the items for the event, though most of their items appear salvageable.
The residents told 12 News the complex offered them a furnished unit right across the street from the one they were living in.
The Bridgeport, Clarksburg, Nutter Fort, Shinnston and Spelter fire departments, as well as Anmoore EMS, the Bridgeport Police Department, Natural Resources Police and West Virginia State Police responded to the scene, according to the 911 log.
