EASTON — Gov. Wes Moore hauled a large basket of food to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s food pantry Wednesday evening, along with an even larger smile. Easton Shooting Leads to Late Night Standoff
EASTON, MD - The Easton Police and several other Maryland law enforcement agencies found themselves in a standoff situation Tuesday night after reports of shots fired. Police say they responded to reports of a shooting at the Parkway Apartments on Jowite Street on July 16th at 10:37 p.m. There police met with witnesses who said a suspect had shot multiple rounds before running into an apartment. Officers surrounded the apartment, creating a perimeter while they obtained more information. The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Natural Resource Police, and the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office also arrived on scene.
Easton Police Searching for Motel Armed Robbery Suspect
EASTON, MD - The Easton Police Department is actively investigating an armed robbery at a local motel Wednesday night. According to investigators, Easton Police were called to the Econo Lodge on Ocean Gateway just after 11:30 p.m. on July 17th. There, police say they met with a motel employee who told them a suspect had displayed a handgun and demanded money. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect then fled towards the back of the motel, according to police.

Final Regulatory Hurdle Passed for University of Maryland Shore Regional Medical
The Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC) unanimously approved the rate application request from University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH), a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), for the new Shore Regional Medical Center in Easton. HSCRC’s approval helps offset interest and depreciation for the construction of the new facility and represents the final step needed for site preparation work to begin at 10000 Longwoods Road later this month.
