History Matters: August Quarterly Social Justice Dialogue to promote discourse around social issues, democracy
Social justice has meant many things over time and while definitions may vary, common concepts include equal rights, equal opportunity, and equal treatment. On August 20th, the Delaware Historical Society hosts a Social Justice Dialogue with Dr. Eddie S. Glaude Jr. – one the country’s most prominent scholars and authors – that aims to challenge attendees to think critically about social issues and the present and future of American democracy.
Mahmud Named as a Coach for the U.S. Under-23 National Team
NEWARK, Del. - USRowing has announced University of Delaware head coach Asiya Mahmud was selected as a coach for the 2024 Under 23 National Team, which will compete in St. Catharines, Canada on August 18-25. Mahmud is one of 13 coaches on staff for the team, as she is joined by Sergio Espinoza, Sarah Trowbridge, Craig Hoffman, John Graves, Trevor Michelson, Niles Garrett, Elizabeth Mitchell, Andrew Hess, Graham Marks, Fergal Barry, Adam Wehking, and Dave O'Neil. Mahmud will work with the women's four, with athletes Carly Legenzowski (C.) (South Salem, N.Y./University of Texas), Anna Garrison (4) (Seattle, Wash./University of Texas), Jordan Freer (3) (Lotus, Calif./University of Washington), Olivia Meskan (2) (Sherrard, Ill./University of Wisconsin), and Olivia Bachert (1) (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Syracuse University).
Bethany Beach Police Seek to Identify Pursuit Suspects
BETHANY BEACH, DE– Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two alleged pursuit suspects following a car chase Thursday night. Bethany Beach Police observed a white Tesla with unknown registration racing another vehicle down Garfield Parkway around 11 p.m. on Aug. 15. Officers say the Tesla sped through a stop sign at Pennsylvania Avenue where pedestrians were actively crossing the street.

Phish moving Sunday Mondegreen set to afternoon due to "high likelihood of severe weather"
