East Mills begins school year with new building, updated cell phone policy
(Malvern) -- Students head back to classes in East Mills Friday with a newly renovated building and a new cell phone policy. The 2024-25 school year kicked off for teachers and staff earlier this week, with East Mills students beginning classes Friday morning at the district's newly expanded preK-12 facility in Malvern. Students returning will also notice changes to the district's cell phone policies, which will no longer be available for use in classrooms during the school day. Speaking on KMA's "Morning Line" program Friday morning, East Mills School Superintendent Michael Brown says the updated policy approved by the school board comes in the wake of a national push to increase student engagement in the classroom.
Jorgenson named '24 Friend of Ag
(Farragut) -- One of KMAland's leading agricultural advocate is this year's Friend of Agriculture Award recipient. Sidney area farmer Jeff Jorgenson received the 2024 award during the Shenandoah Chamber and Industry Association's Annual Meeting and Agriculture Banquet in Farragut Wednesday night. A Northwest Missouri State University graduate, Jorgenson has farmed in Fremont County for 28 years. In presenting the award, Russell Loewe (LAY-vee) gave a brief synopsis of Jorgenson's career and personal highlights.
