BOSTON ( WBZ NewsRadio ) — A Massachusetts State Police Trooper charged in a Commercial Driver's License application bribery scheme retired with a dishonorable discharge Tuesday, officials said.

MSP said Trooper Joel Rogers, 54, of Bridgewater, was one of six people federally charged with issuing the licenses to applicants who were unqualified or did not complete the full testing process in exchange for bribes.

Rogers was suspended without pay on Jan. 31, 2024.

Sergeant Gary Cederquist, 58, of Stoughton, was another former member of the CDL Unit charged in the alleged conspiracy. Cederquist retired last week with a dishonorable discharge.

Former MSP members Calvin Butner and Perry Mendes, and two non-MSP civilians, were also charged.
