The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has announced the temporary closure of Belle Isle Park’s swimming areas following the detection of high levels of bacteria in the Detroit River. Samples taken on July 10 revealed elevated amounts of E. coli, a bacteria harmful if ingested or exposed through skin contact.
