BRIELLE — The Manasquan River Group of Artists (MRGA) gathered in the halls of Brielle Library over the weekend for an art show, showcasing a variety of different paintings crafted expertly by local artists.

This is the MRGA’s largest exhibition out of the numerous ones they do over the course of the year, according to Vinne Nardone, vice president of the MRGA.

“We are very happy that the Brielle Library was amenable enough to continue to allow us to continue at this venue. They support us every year,” said Nardone.

Dozens of pieces of artwork we submitted to the group by its members, ranging in size and scope. From acrylics to watercolors, and everything in between, each painting had a variety of effort and time put into it by its respective artist.

Tracy Miller, director of this show, said the criteria of this judged show was the piece had to be done within the last 5 years, only 2-D art and the art could not have won any award previously.

The art, which has been displayed at the library previous to the show, was also up for sale. Each piece was being sold at varying prices, with the library getting a 20% cut of each piece sold as a thank you for letting the artist display their work in the library space for free.

Barbara Calvo, outgoing president of the MRGA, said, “It is important to share artwork with others in the community. We are very passionate about what we do. We would love for everyone to see what we do and share in our art.”

Incoming President Sheila Soyster told The Coast Star, “It is really an honor to be a part of this group, and an even greater honor to now be the president of it. We have been in this community since 1938 and have done many of these local shows. This is a great representation of the town and our area, and we are pleased to promote it to everyone.”
