Toms River Police Chief: Who Will Take the Helm? — According to theOcean County Prosecutors Office, on Friday, August 23rd, Toms River Police Chief Mitchell Little formally announced his retirement by leaving the Richard C. Clement Law Enforcement Center for the final time. Little, who was appointed chief on January 1, 2014, was recognized on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the police department with a walk-out ceremony. For the first time in many years, the department is without a chief following his retirement. Little took over for Michael Mastronardy, the current Ocean County Sheriff, who retired on December 31, 2013, after 22 years as the chief of police in Toms River.

Eric Manzanares, 24, of Asbury Park — According to theOcean County Prosecutors Office, Eric Manzanares, 24, of Asbury Park, was indicted by a Grand Jury sitting in Ocean County on the charges of Murder, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Possession of a High Capacity Ammunition Magazine and two counts of being a Certain Person Not to Possess a Weapon, all in connection with the murder of Nymere Tinsley, 25, of Brick Township, which occurred in Toms River on August 27, 2022.

NEW JERSEY -- Dozens of New Jerseyans have been infected with Salmonella bacteria contracted from cucumbers, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA.) The agency noted that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) determined that the active outbreak concluded as of August 22, 2024. During the outbreak, however, between 20 and 25 New Jersey residents contracted Salmonella. Men's Soccer Falls In Season Opener At Monmouth
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Fairfield University men's soccer team opened the 2024 season with a 4-0 setback against Monmouth University on the road. The Stags controlled flow through the first 20 minutes and created several opportunities, placing pressure on the Monmouth back line. Kris Naicker was up front for the first two chances, the first coming off a full sprint down the left flank before cutting back toward goal.
