Layton City PD offers $500 reward, asks for tips on man who threw fireworks into July 4 crowd
LAYTON, Utah, July 17, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are asking for a public assist in tracking down suspects who were throwing lit fireworks into a crowd of people. “During the City’s July 4th festivities, a large group of 100 or more young people gathered near the vendors on Constitution Circle, and then made their way to the soccer field at Layton High School,” Layton City Police said in an online post that included a suspect photo and which offers a $500 reward for information.
Park City Police report uptick in vandalism
Park City Police Lt. Jay Randall says the department normally sees an increase in vandalism in the warmer months. “Just criminal mischief type stuff where things are destroyed and maybe there’s taggings or there’s different painting of different property, electrical boxes and in the bathroom and around town, City Park and up on the mountain at Park City Mountain,” Randall said.
Guardsman Pass Road to close for repaving project

Tradition: Hundreds of people gathered to celebrate Erda Days
Erda’s yearly celebration took place over the weekend with Erda Days celebrated on Friday, July 12 and Saturday July 13. Friday evening’s celebration began at 6:30 p.m. at the Warr Memorial Park where a pulled pork dinner and a talent show were held. Around 225 people attended the dinner and talent show, according to Chris Connelly, a member of the Erda Days committee.
