Ymer Technology To Open Headquarters In Illinois
Ymer Technology recently celebrated the grand opening of its new U.S. headquarters in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. The electric vehicle (EV) components manufacturer’s $5.7 million investment, bolstered by a Reimagining Energy and Vehicles in Illinois (REV Illinois) agreement, will enable Ymer Technology to produce cooling technology and thermal management systems for EVs while supporting Illinois’ clean energy economy.

Volleyball to Host CEFCU Invitational
Bradley Volleyball kicks off its 51st season at the CEFCU Invitational, featuring three matches in Peoria, Illinois. The Braves will face St. Thomas, Southern Indiana, and DePaul over the weekend at Renaissance Coliseum. The season opener against St. Thomas is set for Friday, August 30, 2024, followed by games against Southern Indiana and DePaul on August 31 and September 1, respectively. Kewanee Cross Country Ran the Rock Falls Invitational Yesterday and Hosting at Home Tonight
The Kewanee Boilermakers Cross Country team competed in the Rock Falls Rocket Run Invitational yesterday, August 28, 2024. Nolie Charlet earned a medal for 12th place overall in the 3-mile women’s run with a time of 22:09. Jason Rusk was 25th at 18:25, Hunter Vancil was 36th at 19:09, and Mitchal Thorp was 59th at 21:47 for the men’s 3-mile run. Kewanee is hosting Peru St. Bede and Monmouth United tonight in Chautauqua Park at 4:30 PM.

Kewanee Man Pleads Guilty to Stealing from the Kewanee Park District, Jail and Restitution
A Kewanee man accepted a plea deal for stealing from the Kewanee Park District after he used the Park District’s credit card to purchase personal items. Jacob Boss pleaded guilty to theft from a school or government in case 2023CF336, criminal damage to property in case 2024CM11, and retail theft in case 2023CM26. Boss got a $75 fine, assessments, and must pay restitution of $316 for stealing cigarettes from Annawan Shell in case 2023CM26. Boss got a $75 fine and must pay assessments in case 2024CM11 for criminal damage to property after he drove a dirt bike through yards and drove over a fence while fleeing from police. For case 2023CF336, Boss got 24 months probation, a $500 fine, must pay assessments, pay a DNA collection fee, 90 days in the Henry County jail beginning on September 23rd, with day-for-day credit, and pay $1601.44 in restitution to the Kewanee Park District for theft after using the Park District’s credit card to purchase personal items. The credit card was issued to his mother, Barbara Boss. Barbara Boss also accepted a plea deal for theft from the Kewanee Park District. Jacob Boss will pay $25 a month toward the monies he owes. Judge Patton told Boss he needed to find a better job to pay off the money he owed. A status hearing is scheduled for January 13, 2025, to discuss raising the monthly amount he will pay.
Register for the 48th Annual Hog Days Stampede Before It’s Too Late
You still have time to register for the 48th annual Hog Day stampede. Register at www.getmeregistered.com/hogdaystampede. You can choose the four-mile run, the one-mile run, or the kid’s run. There are awards for the first three male and female kids in each age group. The age groups are 8 and under; 9–10; 11–12; and 13–14. The kid’s race starts at 9:30 AM and there is no entry fee, but a guardian must fill out and sign the entry form, for kids 7 and under. The four-mile fitness run begins at 8 AM. The course is primarily flat, with two small hills. The course begins and ends at the Kewanee YMCA, located at 315 W. First Street. The one-mile fitness walk starts at 9:45 AM. Registration is $15 until August 18th and $20 after August 18th. The OSF Healthcare King Care-A-Van will be on-site at the Stampede on Saturday morning. The mobile health center is funded in cooperation with the OSF HealthCare Foundation and the King Family. The mobile health center is staffed by OSF HealthCare and area agencies, including local health departments. The King Care-A-Van has served patients in Bureau, Henry, LaSalle, and Putnam Counties since 2019.
Holy Trinity announces cancellation of Trivia Night
A trivia night, sponsored by the Holy Trinity PNCC, has been canceled, according to a news release issued by the church. The trivia night was set for Sept. 6, but church officials hope to try to organize another event at a future date.
