Hopkins High School was ordered to shelter in place Friday afternoon after two parents reportedly entered the building and encouraged their student to fight others.

According to an email update sent to parents, two adults entered the building at around 2:50 p.m., and told their student to fight other students in the hallway.

Police were called to the building, and the school was ordered to shelter in place “out of an abundance of caution.” The two parents were eventually escorted out of the building.

The shelter in place order lasted around 30 minutes, according to the update.

“All scholars and staff are safe,” HHS principal Crystal Ballard wrote in the email. “We are grateful for our helpful staff and for the partnership we have with the Minnetonka Police Department.”
