The owners of Mr. Paul’s Supper Club in Edina are bringing a new neighborhood pizzeria to the 50th & France area.

Mothership Pizza Paradise is taking over the former Arezzo Ristorante space at 5057 France Avenue South, which fell vacant with the longtime Italian restaurant’s closure in early 2023.

Chef Tommy Begnaud, his wife Carrie Erickson and Mr. Paul’s co-owner and operator Courtney Briden are behind the new restaurant, which Begnaud said will serve Brooklyn-style pizza, sandwiches, salads and offer a full bar.

The 52-seat restaurant’s liquor license received approval from Minneapolis’ Business, Housing & Zoning Committee on Tuesday.

Begnaud, who lives in Minneapolis, told the committee the restaurant will have televisions and a neighborhood feel.

"We’re parents of a couple high school kids so we want to make sure we embrace the community and have families and sports teams and this and that," he said.

“Think Shakey’s Pizza meets the aesthetics of Mr. Paul’s Supper Club,” he added.

According to Bernaud, Mothership Pizza Paradise will create around 35 jobs.

While an opening date hasn’t yet been announced, city documents show the restaurant is planned to operate Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.
