The family of the 17-year-old Eagan boy who was found dead in Lake Michigan has created a GoFundMe for his funeral expenses.

The body of Max Moras Loeza, who was missing in Lake Michigan, was found by search teams near the Cleveland Cliffs plant in Burns Harbor on Thursday morning.

Loeza had been missing since Tuesday afternoon, when he disappeared in large waves off Kemil Beach in Beverly Shores while swimming with family.

According to Porter County authorities, a 911 report was made about “multiple swimmers in distress” around 2:10 p.m. Authorities arrived and found a Good Samaritan and two swimmers who required medical attention, but Loeza remained unaccounted for. Rescuers attempted to enter the water, but large waves hindered search efforts.

His service will be held on Monday, and the family of Loeza has organized a GoFundMe to help his parents with funeral expenses.

"He brought love and happiness to all of those who knew him," reads the fundraiser. "A young man that filled his parents with pride and all those that loved him."

They have currently raised $9,097 out of their $25,000 goal.
