Fatal crash closes northbound Hwy. 61 in St. Paul

Authorities are at the scene of a fatal crash in St. Paul that happened in the early hours of Monday.

The crash was reported around 4:25 a.m. on northbound Hwy. 61 near Lower Afton Road. The Minnesota Department of Transportation states that the northbound highway is closed to all but emergency vehicles as of 6:40 a.m.

The Minnesota State Patrol has confirmed the crash was fatal, but have released no other details at the time of publishing.

The closure of northbound Hwy. 61 between I-494 in Newport and Lower Afton Road in St. Paul is expected to last till around 8:30 a.m.
