Gregorys Coffee opens its first Minnesota shop next week

A new coffee chain is swooping into Minnesota.

Gregorys Coffee will open its first Minnesota location next week, entering a market where, among chains, Caribou and Starbucks hold sway. The New York-based coffee purveyors, whose motto is "See Coffee Differently," will open at the Albertville Premium Outlets in Albertville on Aug. 21 at 7 a.m.

It's the chain's 47th location spread across 10 states. Minnesota is its first location in the Midwest.

The chain has made its name on deviations from other big chains like making fresh coffee every 30 minutes, serving latte art, and baking pastries in-house. It also serves what it calls a "plant forward" menu, with seasonal ingredients, vegan bakery options, and plant-based milk options readily available.

It also serves non-coffee drinks to "Gregulars" — that's what it calls loyalty members — including fruit-infused refreshers, tea, chai, smoothies, and matcha.

The Albertville location is opened with the Simon Property Group, the 11th mall location Gregorys has opened with the company.
