Police searching for a 17-year-old missing from Maple Grove since Sunday have found a body, with his mother confirming it is that of her son.

Maple Grove PD said that the body was discovered in a wooded area on the 7200 block of Teakwood Lane at 2 p.m. Wednesday, and contacted the family of Nathaniel Chambers, who was last seen Sunday evening.

In a post on Facebook , his mother Sheila confirmed her son's death: "It is will a sad heart that I have to tell you my son’s body was found in the woods along a bike trail we frequented in our neighborhood.

"He is no longer with us. Now at least we have closure although my heart is breaking."

Police say there is no evidence of criminal activity relating to Chambers' death, the cause of which will be released at a later date by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.

"Our thoughts are with the family during this tragic time," Maple Grove PD said.

Nathaniel Chambers was last seen around 7 p.m. Sunday when he left for a bike ride on a red XL Specialized bike from Eric’s. While his family says they are unsure what route he took from their house in Maple Grove, they assume he went down Hemlock Lane towards Medicine Lake in Plymouth, and then possibly on to Minneapolis .
