The lift bridge offers passage for watercraft as the railway crosses lower Rainy Lake northeast of Fort Frances and International Falls.

The railway line is operated by Canadian National, and connects Fort Frances with Thunder Bay, on Lake Superior.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
