A semi-trailer driving at "highway speeds" crashed into four stopped vehicles in northeastern Minnesota on Wednesday, leaving at least one person dead and three injured.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the crash was reported at 2:54 p.m. on Highway 2 and Nelson Road in Arrowhead Township west of Duluth.

Four vehicles – a GMC, a Ford, a Mack Semi, and a Honda were stopped in traffic due to construction when an International Semi struck them from behind at full speed.

The Minnesota State Patrol initially reported the crash killed the 65-year-old driver of the Honda Pilot, a man from Blackduck, Minnesota. However, the State Patrol website has since removed this information, is now saying that more information on the fatalities in the Honda will be released at a later time.

The Honda was also carrying a 66-year-old woman, and two nine-year-old girls.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
