Driver fatally strikes woman in Maplewood, sparking murder investigation

A 23-year-old Minneapolis woman was struck and killed by driver who fled the scene in Maplewood, sparking a murder investigation.

Multiple police departments responded to Larpenteur Ave. East and Dieter Street on a report of a pedestrian struck by a car at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday.

They arrived to find two injured women aged 22 and 23, with the older woman suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Officers and medics gave medical aid to the victims before taking them to Regions Hospital. The 23-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Maplewood police have found the suspect's car and are considering this a murder investigation.

The names of the victims have not been released yet.
