New Orleans-inspired festival will celebrate opening of Du Nord's new cocktail room

As Du Nord Social Spirits prepares to open its New Orleans-inspired Lagniappe restaurant and an adjacent stand-alone cocktail room in the historic Coliseum Building on East Lake Street, it's already finding ways to bring some New Orleans flair to the Twin Cities.

Du Nord will host Krewe Du Nord, a free street festival full of the sounds and flavors of the Crescent City, on Sept. 24 from 2–8 p.m. in the parking lot outside the recently restored Coliseum Building. It'll feature live music, buskers, food, cocktails, and beer.

"Minnesota is still home in most ways, but we've loved our time in New Orleans, and we want to bring a little bit of that warmth and that hospitality and that spiciness to Minneapolis, to that corner there on Lake and 27th," co-owner Shanelle Montana previously told Bring Me The News .

The performances will be anchored by New Orleans' Big 6 Brass Band, who will perform alongside local groups Davina & the Vagabonds and Brass Solidarity.

The fest will celebrate the opening of the Du Nord Cocktail Room, but the announcement says it's just "year one of a tradition in the making" as Du Nord opens a new hub that isn't attached to its distillery.

The festival will be free, but organizers recommend reserving a spot .
